The official Beyond These Stars requirements list Windows 10 64-bit, 8 GB RAM and a GTX 960 or RX 570 at minimum, while the recommended tier moves to 16 GB RAM and an RTX 2070 or RX 6600 XT. Both tiers list 7 GB of available storage and recommend an SSD. Steam does not publish a resolution, preset, or frame-rate target for either row.
Official PC requirements
These rows were read from the Steam store for AppID 2295060 on October 18, 2026. Check the live store before purchasing because requirements can change after release.
Compare the complete tier
Identify the exact desktop or laptop CPU and GPU model, installed RAM, Windows architecture, DirectX support, and free drive space. Compare the entire machine with one published row. Meeting the recommended GPU while remaining below the recommended memory or CPU does not make the whole system recommended.
Laptop parts with a similar name can operate at different power limits from desktop cards. Integrated graphics are not listed as a supported substitute. If a component falls between the two rows, treat expected performance as unknown until a comparable current-build test exists.
The store provides no official frame-rate or resolution target. Do not interpret minimum as “1080p 60 FPS” or recommended as “maximum settings.” Begin with the game’s defaults, then measure the current settlement rather than relying only on the opening scene.
Prepare storage and installation
Keep more than 7 GB free even though that is the published available-space requirement. Steam may need temporary room to download, unpack, and replace files during a patch. Save data, shader caches, screenshots, and operating-system needs can also sit outside the installed game directory.
An SSD is recommended at both tiers. Install there when possible and avoid testing performance while another large download or drive-heavy task is running. A nearly full or failing drive can create symptoms that are not caused by the game itself.
Make a clean first-run baseline
Update
Install current Windows and stable GPU-driver updates, then restart before the first test.
Verify
Use Steam's file verification if installation or a patch was interrupted. Confirm that AppID 2295060 is on the normal public branch.
Observe
Record resolution, display mode, preset, frame pacing, city size, and the action that triggers a slowdown.
Change one thing
Lower one relevant setting at a time. Several simultaneous changes hide which correction mattered.
Test both an ordinary settlement view and a broader map or dense district. Simulation-heavy play can expose a different limit from a quiet starting area. Keep the same save and camera position when comparing a setting.
If performance degrades only after the settlement grows, capture the approximate population, visible production activity, game speed, and whether the camera is focused on Kewa or a remote world. That context distinguishes a scale-dependent simulation or rendering symptom from a machine that cannot sustain the opening baseline. Reproduce the same moment once after a clean restart before treating it as a persistent hardware limit.
Separate native support from compatibility
The Steam store lists Windows 10 64-bit and does not list native macOS or Linux. Steam Deck’s Playable rating and Proton user reports concern compatibility, not a native Linux build. Those observations can help with testing but do not change the official operating-system row.
The separate Demo and Playtest are different AppIDs. Their old performance or requirement reports should not override the released AppID 2295060 store page.
