Beyond These Stars Kewa Stamina and Travel

Plan Kewa's galaxy travel in Beyond These Stars by reading Energy, food opportunities, temperature, route length, detours, and settlement readiness.

Kewa’s travel resource is shown as Energy, even though players often search for it as stamina. Longer galaxy journeys consume more Energy, and eating restores it. Kewa can feed while traveling through Debris Field nodes and can find food at Asteroid Belt locations, so a route is more than the shortest line between two objectives.

Travel rule: ask Kewa to travel only after checking their current needs and the settlement's buffers. The Strange Transmitter makes a request; it does not turn a sentient companion into a guaranteed taxi.

Read the galaxy route through Kewa’s needs

The galaxy map reveals nearby locations Kewa and the Peeps have discovered or visited. Sectors can contain stars, debris fields, static fields, unknown objects, events, asteroid belts, and habitable worlds. Each type matters differently: a destination may progress the story, expose a planet, provide an encounter, or help Kewa eat during the journey.

Kewa decides where to go based partly on what they need. The official Wiki notes that a requested destination can be interrupted by a detour for food. Treat this as expected behavior. If the route is long and Kewa’s Energy is weak, a feeding opportunity is a feature of the plan, not wasted movement.

Temperature also matters. The developer’s Kewa-care preview explains that remaining too long in a hot part of the galaxy can reduce happiness and trigger emergency travel toward cold space. Before committing to prolonged work in a system, check whether the visit helps the Peeps while steadily worsening Kewa’s condition.

Prepare the settlement before departure

Travel does not erase local problems. A generator with full soot storage, homes missing food, or a warehouse bottleneck can still collapse while attention is on the galaxy. Pause at the settlement view and verify that core loops can repeat without manual intervention.

Kewa

Check Energy, food needs, happiness, health, and temperature pressure before requesting a long route.

Peeps

Ensure homes hold food and drink and that essential jobs can survive the shared break cycle.

Industry

Leave input and output storage headroom, particularly for power and polluting by-products.

Outposts

Load or request important shipments before distance or Kewa's next move makes supply timing awkward.

Create a manual save before a major request. It gives you a clean comparison point if the destination exposes a resource dependency you did not anticipate, without promising that Kewa will make every choice exactly as you expected.

Use food stops and detours intelligently

On the galaxy map, compare total progress with opportunities to restore Energy. A direct journey may be efficient when Kewa is well fed. A route through debris or toward an asteroid belt may be safer when the Energy margin is small. Do not state a universal “minimum Energy” for travel: route length and current map context are the useful visible inputs.

If Kewa chooses to eat first, use that interval productively. Rebalance jobs, clear full by-product stores, load trade ships, or prepare the next outpost package. The journey remains part of settlement management rather than a loading screen between maps.

Kewa’s health and happiness are related but not interchangeable with Energy. Trees, waterways, fertile ground, and lower pollution improve the biome and relationship; food and route planning address travel Energy. A settlement can care for one dimension while neglecting another, so inspect each indicator.

Avoid being stranded by your own logistics

The main settlement is always on Kewa, while planets act as specialized outposts. Advanced chains may depend on resources from those planets. Before leaving a useful system, bring back enough critical material to finish the next unlock or maintain the chain until a return visit.

At a minimum:

  1. Identify which imports have no substitute on Kewa.
  2. Fill the Space Port request and confirm the shipment actually arrives.
  3. Keep capacity for unloaded goods instead of filling every warehouse with local surplus.
  4. Preserve a basic outpost workforce and supply loop if you expect to use that world again.
  5. Record what requires a return trip before requesting the next star or object.

If Kewa’s wellbeing is poor, solve pollution and biome damage before turning every delay into a travel problem. See Kewa Health and Happiness for care, and Galaxy Map for reading sectors and points of interest.
